May buy one at auction

Post by shawnm » Mon Nov 16, 2009 9:33 pm

I'm going to an auction where they have several CA-CL77's for sale, and some later CB models. I've restored several scooters (Vespas, Lambrettas, Heinkels) in the past, and I'm considering getting one as a winter project.

Based on the pictures the bikes look complete, although some are in various conditions ranging from "rough" to "average for age" to "very good". I don't know the parts supply market well enough, but is there anything in particular I should avoid when looking at these? Here's a list of what I'm considering:

CA77
CL77
305 Dream
CB350

I'm most concerned with parts availability and the advice network that's out there to get one of them running.

Thanks,

Shawn
