Numbers Matching?

Post by vwfern » Sun Nov 22, 2009 5:58 pm

I just bought a 1970 Dream at an estate sale. It's a one owner bike and I have the original title. The frame # is CA781035449 and the engine # is CA77E1085504. Can anyone tell me if this is numbers matching? I have no reason to believe the engine was replaced but would like to know for sure that it's numbers matching.

Thanks.

First of all, I believe 1967 was the last year of production even though they were sold in later years.
Usually, the frame and vin #'s are within a couple of hundred of each other per Bill Silver's restoration guide, so if you transposed a 3 for an 8 (or vice versa) in the numbers, they probably are matching.

thanks for your reply. it's titled as a '70. Actually, I had a hard time reading the engine number. I thought it was an 8 then I thought it was a 3 then I went back to thinking it was an 8. I'll have to get a magnifying glass and check it again.
