New Poster with a Dream, Honda Dream
Abso-f*ing-lutely not! If Honda ever fitted those, I'd sell mine in disgust!! Your heart has to be in it to get stuck into a resto-pro from that level, mucker; if the love ain't there, I'd say sell it on to someone who has the passion for these beautiful, historic machines. And no offence to you, Wstar. Although the 305 (247) is a simple bike, it's quirky and involving, and requires a deep-seated desire to carry on the history. As we Brits say: you have to sh1t, or get off the pot -- i.e. it's all or nothing. Love it or sell it. Good luck if you do -- respect if you don't. Steve....never had the urge to air out your armpits on a hot summer day?? LOL!!!
Those bars may be the most valuable piece on the bike! Possibly taken off one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/1965-Schwinn-Stingr ... 414b89ec6a Must confess, I did the same thing to a Triumph Cub back when!...but don't tell anyone! Wstar, if you like a challenge, you've got it. 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
I am thinking along the same lines as the last two posters, thanks for the info on the
handlebars. They just didn't look right to me, but then the cables reached so????? Part of me would like to see if I could get it to run, I think getting the motor free might be a big enough challenge by itself! But, the more common sense part of me says it is not really the bike I am interested in. I don't know if I would even tackle a mid 80's power cruiser that was in this bad of shape. I guess I will see if I can get the plugs out and spray down the engine and let it soak while I mull over what to do. Have enough other things going on right now with Christmas and New Years. At least is is no longer sitting out in a snow bank getting in worse shape than it already is. If that is even possible! Have a Merry Christmas All! Ok, thanks. I hjave not taken the seat off yet. Any tips on how that comes off, I have not really looked at it with blowing snow and getting ready for Christmas and all. Got a message from the owner this morning. They did find both side covers. One is missing the knob, the other one has it attached. He thinks they have it and are still looking. He also said they have the fender somewhere as well, but have not found it yet. Seems like it would help the more complete it is, but still a mess! I want to try and get the plugs out yet today and spray some lube in there and get it soaking at least. Can I try and turn the engine over by spinning the back wheel in gear, or is there a better way?
