Need help identifying model of CB77

Post by jeffliner » Fri Feb 12, 2010 12:07 pm

I recently aquired a CB77 Superhawk. The title could not be found. Which serial number would it have been registered under, the one on the fork or the one on the engine? Would the entire number have been used including the CB77 or just the numbers after the CB77- ? The bike was bought new by the person I got it from. I need to get a new title but no records come up. Any suggestions???

Jeff, they're usually registered by the frame No#. My CL title has "CL" on it. Good luck............D

It seems that some states used the engine number and some used the frame number. In most states it is difficult for a new owner to get a title without at least the old registration or plates or something to prove that the particular bike was registered in that state.

Our old bikes pre-date the VIN and that means in most states they are hard to impossible to find.

The simplest way if it's possible, is to get the previous owner to apply for a replacement license but he will probably need to find some old registration document. If it has not been registered for decades, it is probably not in the system at all and that may require a STAAB agency registration.
