Coker tire Blem's
Coker tire Blem's
Just ordered my blem's from Coker as per "Davo's" post. Apparently Firestone won't be producing anymore of these until the fall so for $49 per tire I'll give it a try. For this season my goal is to get the bike roadworthy and driveable. It may not be pretty but I want it sound. On a side note, although the guy at Coker was pleasant to deal with, he told me that motorcycle tires don't have a speed rating. hmm, I didn't know what to say to that so I said nothing. Every tire site I've looked at had speed ratings for their motorcycle tires. Oh well. Regards, Jeff H.

Re: Coker tire Blem's
I just ordered a set today, I was told the rating is for "load" not speed (on these) which makes more sense than a tire that is only rated for 32 mph which wouldn't even be good enough for a mini bike! He also told me the only blem about the tire is the consistancy of the white wall not cracks or anything structural that would make them unsafe. Coker is no way going to sell something unsafe, they have to much to lose. He told me they grabbed 400 of the tires when they heard they were out of the regular ones and not sure when they were going to produce more. They have 154 left as of today.Eljeef wrote:Just ordered my blem's from Coker as per "Davo's" post. Mine came in today, the "blem" is clearly just the quality of the white wall. couple of small runs on one and the other looks like it was touched up and didn't match perfect. I'm happy with them for my driver quality bike.Eljeef wrote:Wowsers! It's a free for all. It'll be interesting to see how these tires look.
I did some checking on the "B" rating, it is a "load range B" which means it is a 4 ply rating. The speed rating is a "P" rating which is 93mph, the "P" is listed on the sidewall behind the tire size.

got my tires yesterday. super-fast shipping, another gold star for coker. the tires look pretty flipping good, too! there are some runs and blobs in the whitewall, but from 4 feet away, guess what? i cant see them. something tells me once they are rotating nobody will know the difference. they are certainly not perfect, but, for 49 apiece, they are pretty stinking good.
.
as mentioned previously, the tread pattern on these leaves a lot to be desired, in terms of performance. but then, the dream aint no superhawk, is it? never expected to be dragging pegs on this old girl anyway.
i will post some good pics here in a bit.....
