Gordon's 1965 CL77 Restoration

Post by Ilbikes » Sat Apr 10, 2010 11:43 pm

Guys, here are a few of the pics showing a short history of the 1965 CL77 I bought recently for $300- She spent her life inside a barn for 45 years until I brought her home on the 23rd March 2010.

Almost done guys - these taken August 13, 2010 -

I have the frame apart and will concentrate on getting a restored rolling chassis before pulling the engine apart for a rebuild. As of today, I've knocked out a lot of the dirty stuff..... I've had a few evenings with the beadblaster in-hand and am slowly taking off her dust, dirt, and 45 years of aging. The fun part is just around the corner - assembling the powdercoated, chromed, and polished pieces. I'll start getting back pieces in Honda Red powdercoat late next week.

A little progress - I picked up a batch of parts from the plater today. I'm very happy with the quality and cost. The rear sprocket alone paid for almost all of the pating cost. I even had the springs done for corrosion protection under the covers besides, I needed the weight to meet his minimum.

Hey Ed (and guys & gals),

I'm in UK working my friggin' arse off with little time to even pick my bloody nose! Back to Cote d'Azur, France next week then, hopefully, back to Spain to get some work done on CB.

Just bought a hydraulic bike lift to make my progress a bit easier; GB£330 delivered to Spain. Worth it to save the ol' knees!

I've dumped my iPhone 'cos I can't see the bloody thing without my specs (and the touchscreen keyboard drove me insane)! I'm just too short of Quality Laptop Time when working away.

Keep well, all of you.
