Greetings, y'all!!!

Post by Squidfisher » Tue Apr 20, 2010 6:50 pm

After staying up way too late Sunday night reading 20 some-odd pages of posts, I figured I had to join this forum. Y'all seem like a great bunch of people. I'm in the process of reviving what is likely the roachiest '64 CA72 in these here parts, and it's been a lot of fun thus far. I've always wanted a Dream, but after bringing this one home, I figured it was too far gone to make Dream-like, so I'm just gonna get it running and road worthy enough to teach my 14 yr-old twins to ride on it. I've learned a lot so far reading the posts and had the illustrious Bill Silver quickly respond to an email regarding some wiring questions I had. What a prince of a guy he is!

Thanks for the forum!!

Rob

Hey Jensen!

Where at in the Netherlands? I played a blues festival 3 times in a town called Utrecht. It was at the Musikcentrum Vredenberg. I doubt I spelled that right. Absolutely loved it over there.

Oh, I don't regret buying this nightmare, err, Dream at all. The way it worked out, I got it for free. Five years ago, I bought an absolutely cherry '66 Yamaha YM1 305cc two stroke and the Dream at the same time from a guy who was thinning his herd a bit. I ended up selling the YM1 for more than I paid for both of them, so it worked out sweet. This thing is so far gone, though. It's missing pretty much everything that unbolts except the seat frame and tank. Someone sawed the cool swoop off the back of the front fender, and flat tore up the front of the frame to get the condenser out. The points cover was missing, so they siliconed the lid from a spray paint can over the points. Kinda slick, in a redneck way. hehe. Tonight I resoldered the wire to the starter button and ran it thru the bars. It had a starter button taped to the coil inside two popsicle sticks. Thanks to Bill Silver, after I get some more connectors tomorrow, I can wire it all up. The headlight nacelle is gone, so the combo switch is, too. I'm just going to wire up a double pole toggle with the lights on all the time, and use the other set of poles for the stator connections.

p.s.
How do y'all get the little list of your bikes at the bottom of a post? Y'all type that every time, or is there a box to fill that in?

Hi,

I'm living in a small town called Huizen, it's actually not far away from Utrecht (20 miles or so).
the theatre you played in it's called Vredenburg, your spelling isn't that bad at all.

The list of bikes can be written down in the profile section by yourself, not very difficult.
it will appear automatic at the bottom every post,

good luck,

jensen

Neat!! I sure do miss matjes haring. We can't get those here, and while I was there I ate 14 of 'em in one day. Man, those are good, just slurped 'em down.

So, you just type your list of bikes and then copy/paste every time you post something, or type it in every time?

Hi,

log in, go to the profile section, and then write it down in the signature era.
It will appear automatic every post,

Maatjes Haring, yes, it's our pride and you next to wooden shoes.
for all other forum members who will visit the Netherlands :

Maatjes Haring is a fish, a haring, and it's eaten raw, with unions if you like.
If you are here, you should try it, but let your wife try one too, otherwise you might have to look another one,

You take the fish at his tail and slurpe it down.
when you're at the tail, bit it off, you don't eat that part.

We (Dutch people in general) eat 200 million harings every year,

Jensen

Jensen,
Buddy...you got me laughin'. In a good way. I surely didn't expect to see those lovely young people in the pre gulp pose. Got any pics of old people doin' the same? All in fairness.

Mike
