Pics from way back.....
Some may remember my frequent mentions of "the '64 CB that I owned in '71"; well, during my recent sortie back to the UK to bail out a motoryacht with electronics issues, my brother-in-law stuffed a photo envelope into my grubby paws. Made my weekend, that did!
A couple of pics of my first CB herewith. The bike was mostly original, to my knowledge (note the silver-coloured taillight bracket -- rock on, Ed!) with the exception of the missing headlamp lens and my home-made polythene seat cover. Oh, and the white tank. This was shortly before I stripped the entire bike and painted everything white: frame, forks, fenders, etc.. In fact, all painted parts ended up white after I spotted a CB450 K-minus-1 White Bomber and thought that it looked the bogs dollocks. The original colour scheme was of the blue persuasion (before I screwed it up).
I'm not sure about the 'venting' in the front hub; possibly carried out by the PO, I suppose? Or was that possibly part of a model series? Davomoto(?) has the same 'venting' on one of his bikes, I believe. The PO told me that the bike was 'ex-works' before I took ownership. The centrifugal oil filter had been removed 'to save bhp' and the inlet ports were as smooth as a baby's botty cheeks......
Note the holing of the silencer's tail end; the result of enthusiastic laying over. Not so the ground-off headlamp rim -- that was over-enthusiasm, I'm afraid.
And the overalled poseur in the greasy overalls and frayed jeans is me at 16!

Steve,
Excellent pics!
When I bought my 1st new bike (CB77) in about 1968, it was originally solid white from the factory according to the dealer. He said they sent him a bunch of solid white "Christmas Specials" and he couldn't sell them, so he painted the sidecovers and tank blue to make them 2 tone.
I think I have some pics buried somewhere.
By the way, I had hair then too!
