The white bottles are JASO MA as well -- I have one in my shed, and just changed the oil today! If you need me to take a photo of it for verification, I'd be more than happy to do so.

Here is the link for the specs on the Rotella T Triple Protection 15w40. It says JASO, DH2, MA:

They do have a synthetic BLEND as well, but that one is not MA. The full synthetic is also MA, as you mentioned.

A photo is not necessary, but may be helpful.
There are so many variations of similarly named products today it is hard to duplicate without seeing sometimes.
White bottles of Rotella T include T5, T1 and Triple Protection...3 different oils.
I missed the MA in the Triple Protection specs.
I didn't see any mention of "Triple Protection" being synthetic.
To complicate matters, MA is now in the process of being split into MA1 and MA2!

Yes it is definitely tricky to determine which oil to use -- my friend Scott swears by the Honda GN-4 oil, and my friend Lee likes Valvoline, and they both have many gorgeous vintage Hondas. I was always a 30w non-detergent guy, but then my mechanic John turned me on to the Rotella T. Wouldn't surprise me if a few years from now I'm onto something else!

Please bear in mind that these series of posts in this thread regarding Rotella T is not a recommendation on my part of what kind of oil to use in a SuperHawk, as I am certainly no expert. The mention of Rotella T was merely a response to my sudden kickstart lever movement, and my listing the particular kind of oil I used, followed by a verification from various sources regarding its use in a motorcycle in general.

As we've seen in other threads, there are as many opinions about oil as there are oils, and I'm sure there are lots of good options out there.

Back to the original point -- I'll continue to monitor the kickstart lever and will have the spring checked when I have a chance. The bike is running great - 6 years and over 18,300 miles later - and I don't see any need to split the cases open at this point....of course, that is subject to change if the situation returns!

One stupid question though: Is it at all possible that the kickstart lever could move on its own due to lack of use?
