1960(?) C72 Dream Motor

Post by G-Man » Sun Sep 12, 2010 3:22 am

Although Bill Silver's book only records CA72s from 1961, I'm assuming that the motor I have acquired is from 1960 with the '0' prefix on the number. The motor has the breather tower and the head has 10mm spark plug threads. I have most of the engine parts, sadly a rusty collection, and hope to put it all together sometime just for the sheer hell of having a 1960 Dream motor.

You never know someone might have an early frame for it.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

Yes, it's a 1960 engine.

Jensen

Thanks. Are there many differences with these early ones? Will it be difficult to find a crank or are they similar to later engines?

I enjoyed reading your posts about the Bomber.

Hi,

As long it's a wet sump, everything of the later engines will fit.
The only parts what COULD be different is the diameter of the outer crank bearing.

Please make sure you install the right cylinder packings,
because probably you have a 8 hole cylinder too....

The head may use different diameter valves, but you will know soon enough

The very early wet sump engines do have a different header mount, it will fit the later ones, but it isn't a smooth fit,

Thanks for the notification on the bomber stuff,
