67 superhawk, now to get it licensed!
today is the day!going to put the carbs back together (partially diassembled for cleaning) charge the battery, and my new key will be at my house by the time i get off work. the tank still needs cleaned up and i need a petcock or at least a new ring for it and rubber lines, going to see if it starts with some starting fluid and go from there!
got it put together and no spark, been reading the excellent post on adjusting points and timing and so on. i used my test light and i have power with the key on at both terminals on both coils, is that right? i cleaned the points earlier, going to pick up a set of feeler gauges, which i need to add to my toolbox anyway... and follow the directions in that post and go from there. also picked up a generic motorcyle book at the library, and a book on honda 200s from the right era. i am going to read through them and the forums for more info, and will mess with the points hopefully tomorrow...thanks!
Andy, that's correct. You should also have power where the wires hook to the points, as long as the points are open. If you dont, trace the power from the coil - side to where it plugs into the condenser. If you have power ther, but not at the points, try unhooking the wire from the points, and than checking for power. Then let us know what you find.
