Considering Selling my Honda 305 Dream

Post by Sascha » Thu Feb 03, 2011 1:22 pm

Hey guys,

So I am considering selling her...
Going to be renovating the house this year and wouldnt hurt to get a bit more cash to get it done right. Plus I know it will make the wife happy. Probably seems really counterintuitive given I literally just finished building her. What do you think she is worth I have no idea how to even price her... about 8.5k of money in her but I dont think that matters, thoughts?

Note: I may try to trade in on an old Toyota FJ40 or Land Rover Defender.

P.S. Gold stickers have since been removed.

Yikes. Already? I repeat, I love your bike. Cannot afford it but I love it. Sell it to a good home.

Ouch! Well that was a quick turn of events -- sorry to hear about that, but I definitely understand priorities.

One of the challenges you're going to have is finding that certain buyer who is 'into' the look of your bike, because of course you set it up for the way YOU wanted it. I assume you still have all the stock parts? I haven't been totally keeping track of your work, but has the engine and transmission etc been rebuilt? That would likely add value and increase its 'sell-ability' (and particularly if you haven't done anything to the bike that couldn't be undone), but here again, you're targeting a really small segment of the motorcycling community (I'm sure that small vintage Hondas are already a teeny part of the market). Problem is that you have really no basis for comparison -- I mean, there isn't exactly a NADA guide for a custom Dream.

I don't know that you'd be able to get $8.5k for it -- even perfectly restored stock Dreams would have trouble getting that kind of price (don't even think of asking what I have in my bike!). I'm thinking somewhere in the $3500 - $4000 range, but I think your best bet might be to put it on eBay and a Buy it Now price at whatever you think, and see what happens. Wish I could be of more help!

if you do ebay it, i would def have a couple well done videos. one of a quick walk around and firing it up. and one of a couple drive bye, with out the "waiting to turn around" but cut out and back in of the drive bye.
