Yes. I made one, but used a strap wrench before I had made mine with pretty good results.

I modified an old oil filter strap wrench; worked pretty good...careful not to squeeze the lower fork tube too tight in the vise....Lee

Thanks guys. I got a strap wrench but its not looking good. I might try the oil filter strap next.

Sorry, that what I meant, an oill filter strap wrench. If it slips, try putting rubber from an old inner tube betweeen the chrome and the nylon strap.

guess the filter strap is next cause i just broke the rubber strap on the strap wrench.

Monkey Wrench

I live in rust-prone UK and there was no way I was going to get mine undone with a strap wrench. On one set of forks I had to put some pipe on the ends of the tool I made and had to use heat to get it undone.

I do enjoy making special tools, though! :-)
