Please help me with lower end assembly. pics included

I'm still waiting for my oil seals but i have 2 more questions as i start to fit things together.

Why is it that only 3 of the nuts and bolts holding the cases together require a sealing washer? They all seem to be equally apt to leak. If i understand LM correctly the 3 i show with the blue tape are the only ones that should need a sealing washer? The one on the far right would be the funky looking nut?



Are there any alignment issues to worry about when putting the transmission parts together? The Bill Silvers guide recommends dry fitting the cases and then installing the shift stopper hardware and running it through the gears to check for any problems?

I have done a dry fit of everything including the shift drum stopper hardware. Before the shift drum stopper hardware was installed when i turned the main shaft the kick start shaft also turned. Once the shift drum hardware was installed the kick started shaft stopped turning when the main shaft is being turned. Does this have something to do with how the large bolt that mounts the shift drum stopper interacts with the low gear? Is this correct?

BRIAN Have you checked the shift drum to be sure it is in tip top shape. Were you able to ride this bike before teardown. Were all the gears working properly, not jumping out etc. Nothing worse than having to tear back down from overlooking something

I've never had the bike running, the motor was frozen when i bought it.

It shifts through the gears perfectly. My questions is about what happens when i install the large shift drum stopper bolt. The bolt comes to a round pin shape at the end and somehow that interacts with the low gear shift pawl area. I just want to make sure i get that right. Like i said without that bolt installed the kickstart shaft spins when the main shaft it being turned. Once i install that bolt the main shaft turns freely of the kick start shaft.

I'm just getting ready to seal it up and want to make sure everything is installed properly before i do it.

When properly installed that bolt is engineered to stop the KS Shaft rotation. ................lm

Ok, this is it new oil seals, it's shifting smoothly the shift drum stopper is indexing correctly it's ready to go together. Just two more questions.

1) What is the shallow hole near the alignment pin on the left of the pic? Seems to butt against a similar shallow hole when the cases are put together. It doesn't seem like it could serve any purpose? Just wondering.

2) Any tips on applying the hondabond ht sealer? Should it be applied to all the mating surfaces? Should i do anything special around the screw holes? Any specific pattern to follow?
