Finished my solo seat. First ride yesterday.

Post by Jethro » Sun Jul 17, 2011 2:15 pm

So I finished my solo seat installation. I had to get creative with the mount and do some welding but I think it turned out really well. After fixing a lean running issue and a leaky head gasket I was able to get it running nicely and took it out for the first ride yesterday evening. Only a few minor things to do still (like rubber foot pegs and some other small items). Here's a pic.

Thanks mike1969 for the oil guide and Loud Mouse for doing my cylinder head job and everyone else who gave me pointers along the way.

Gorgeous Jethro! Are those Kenda tires with Portawalls? I LOVE the solo seat combo with the luggage rack on the back. I am looking for a similar rack for mine, any suggestions?

Jethro

It really suits the bike. Did you make the seat yourself or did you start with a seat from something else? I would really like to do something like that.

The seat / low-bars combo looks so nice...

Thanks for the compliments.
Yeah the seat is way comfortable. It works fine with the low bars too.
The luggage rack is one I modified from an old trail 90. Had to weld on some brackets to make it work with the Dream. Bigscooter helped me with that as he was the one who gave me the idea.
I'm don't remember what kind of tires they are. I don't think they are Kendas. They are the ones that go on the Tomos mopeds with the porto-walls from Universal Vintage tire. Here's a link for those tires. https://www.1977mopeds.com/product/729/ ... 25in-Tire/

I got the seat off of Ebay. It was some generic, universal solo seat. Here's a link for the seat. http://www.narleychoppers.com/servlet/t ... ock/Detail

Thanks again guys,
Jethro

G'day Jethro

Great work - that bike looks absolutely awesome. The solo seat looks great and I'm considering a similar thing. Where did you get the rear rack?

What mufflers do you have on that?

Thanks.
