BIKE REVS UP BY ITSELF INTELL I TURN THE THROTTLE BACK

Post by Quinn » Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:33 pm

Alright so tonight i decided to hook up all the gas line put some gas in it and see if a couldnt get it to run for awhile which it did but at around 4000 rpm so i shut it off looked all over and couldnt find the problem so i tried it again but this time while its was at the 4000 rpm i gave the throttle a twist and well it reved down and died started it agian and held the throttle to where it idle at the right rpm but wasnt running well at all it was sputtering badly but when it was running at 4000 rpm it was running great no missing no sputtering nothing. so i have no idea what is going on maybe the points need adjusting or there is one hell of a vacuum leak i cant seem to find but if anyone has any idea about what it could be please let me know i appreciate all the help i can get
Thanks Quinn

I looked at some of your past posts. I see you rotated the cam 180 degrees. If It were me I would put it back to the correct way and check your timing.

Another thing to check is the synch of your carbs. One carbs may be set higher than the other. With the filter tubes off check to make sure the slides lift at exactly the same time. Also at idle you want them equal.

You're welcome to make the trip up even if you don't need your bike worked on.

today i played around with the bike found out that one cylinder wasn't firing at all due to a faulty spark plug so went and got some new ones put them in the bike fired it up i idles for a second then revs up and the one cylinder that wasnt running back fires and shoots a spark so i think that is because its got so much raw fuel in the exhaust probably should look into a couple carb kits for it but does anyone think i should be super concerned about the sparks im 17 ive done all the work on this bike by myself it was a parts bike when i got it with a totally frozen engine i really dont have the money to pay someone 50 dollars an hour to play around with it and i really dont want to sell it cause its so close but i have adjusted everything trying to get it to work but it doesnt do anything but rev up till i pull back on the throttle or shut it off before it blows itself up so if anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it sorry for the long reply
Thanks Everyone
Quinn
