Tell me about my bike

Post by GarageRacer » Sun Oct 09, 2011 7:18 pm

Just a little background, a few months ago I was given my uncles 1964 CB77. It was his primary mode of transportation during college. He later ended up storing from around 1973 until it was dug out fairly recently. It's a nice barn find as there's no reproduction parts on it and there isn't a lot of issues with the bike. It thankfully runs and I've been able to get all the electrics working (which is a miracle since wiring is not my specialty).

Anyhoo, so I've decided to buy all new cables for the bike. I was surfing http://www.classichondarestoration.com for everything. First off is that a reputable company?

Also, I noticed that all the control cables are for a low bar setup. Is that correct for a 1964? Below are pictures of my bike which from my understanding has a high bar setup?

64 should have the flat bars. The cables that hondarestoration sells won't fit. The guys sell the reproduction flat bars, and the cable that will work. http://www.olypen.com/retro/ . Really great people to deal with! Where are you located, the tail light on that bike looks non US. Post the VIN numbers, and we can help you out on what year it is.

The frame and title say CP771000434. I was planning on buying the flat bars to keep it more original.

No, both pegs (rider and passenger) are solid, non folding.

Then I'd say ya have a domestic issue as I see the early tail light and with the foot pegs as they are ya have a domestic issue.
Have ya checked the white tag on the wire harness at the rear of the gas tank?. ........lm

Tag says

For the hell of it, I recorded the engine serial number since I know my uncle swapped engines after the original gave him problems. The serial for the engine in the bike now is 213876. The original engine was stolen awhile ago so no chance of having a numbers matching bike.
