Shift Lever Question

Post by akpasta » Wed Oct 26, 2011 6:41 pm

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to motorcycles. I've been riding an old 67 S90 for a couple years but I've outgrown it at this point. The CB77 has the classic look, doesn't feel too heavy for my size, and I can take it on the highway.

My question is I've gotten really used to the shift lever on the S90 (it has a back lever too) as seen below.

You can shift with your heel or move your foot back a bit and easily shift with the ball of your foot, you don't have to put your foot underneath the front lever. I've gotten really used to shifting this way, why is this the only motorcycle I've ever seen with that? Is there any way to throw something similar on the cb77 or would I just have to get used to it? Thanks!

shift lever

You will find that you get used to lifting the lever with your left foot very quickly. I suppose something could be cobbled up, but the shift linkage and the passenger peg might complicate things.
I'd just enjoy the CB 77 as is.

The only reason he was able to do that was because his wife keeps him in a mayonaise jar on the back porch most of the time.
