My restoration

Hi all. I am coming to the tail end of my restoration on my 1963 Dream. What was suppose to be a 6 month process ended up taking a year and half and I am not finished yet. However, with most of major stuff being completed we are putting her back together. I wanted to start off by saying THANK YOU to all of you who helped me along the way. I received some valuable information as well as parts from many of you here on the forum. I can not thank you enough. Now, I would like to post some pictures of what she looked like when she entered my life. She was pretty much a mess. I will post more photos as the rebuild comes back together. Again, thank you so much for all your help!

I just bought my bike this past weekend and I really look forward to seeing what you did with yours! It absolutely amazes me when I see these gorgeous bikes, and then see the "before" pics. It gives me hope! I have no idea what I'm doing, which is why I bought this bike. To learn how motorcycles work. I look forward to seeing the "after" pictures! Do you know what color you're going to paint it?

Oh yeah I am keeping it white. I just love the simple clean look of the white ones. I already have it painted and we are putting it back together slowly. My husband is a big Harley fan, but when I was looking for my own bike, I ran across these old bikes and it was love at first sight. I originally purchased at CA95 (1965 which is black) but I really wanted a white one. So when this basketcase came along here in my hometown for 600 bucks I grabbed it. Even though it was rough, I knew it would be a good project. If I may suggest something to you, you should pick up Bill Silvers restoration Guide. It has so much great information as well as great diagrams to follow. They are reprints so you take them into the garage and not worry about it getting all dirty. Also, when taking anything apart, your best friend will be a digital camera. Take LOTS of before pictures, and pictures of the parts that you are disassembling. This will make putting it back together MUCH easier. I can not tell you enough how much that has saved my A*S. I am putting a solo seat on my bike. ( I got mine through APEX). And of course my mufflers are lacking their luster so I am putting on aftermarket exhaust. Everything else though is going to be stock. I am so excited to get this baby on the road. I will definitely put MORE pictures up as the bike comes together. Thanks for the feedback. And, your 1962 bike, is amazing! Enjoy it.

Thanks KellieLyyne for the great advise! I've ordered the book and got new batteries for the camera! I've done my first fix....I replaced the tail light bulb! I know, but I have to start somewhere! Seeing how nice your bike looks, gives me inspiration!

I will post a picture of mine, but I havent been able to find another one. I got mine from Apex Cycles, but since I bought it I haven't seen them back in stock. However, I do know that Jethro, got his solo seat from these guys.

There's a picture of his bike with that seat installed on the forum. Just go to the search link and type in Jethro's name in the author box and the post is labeled "finished my solo seat. first ride yesterday."
