'67 CB Restoration.

Post by Jethro » Tue Nov 15, 2011 10:56 pm

Hi,
I got a CB from a guy a couple of months ago. Began restoration in early October and am now nearing completion. I've been working pretty hard at it, but I told myself it would be a quick one. I got the engine running before I disassembled the bike and it seems to run very nicely. So not having to do anything there saved me a lot of time. I was hoping to get it done before the snow flies but unfortunately I'm too late. We had a winter storm come through yesterday.

Here's some pics during reassembly. Sorry they're kind of crappy. Just phone pics.

I'll keep them coming though:)

Looking really good!

What's the front tyre?

I like the plane in the background. Not much room for one of those in my workshop. :-(

Thanks G-Man!
Front and rear tires are Michellin Gazelles. Stock sizes.

By the way, that speedo assy. you sent me is working out great. The tach is nice and smooth. We'll see how the speedo side works out. I'm sure it will be great as well.
Did your friend get those CA tank grips?

So, I'm really bad about keeping up with my progress. Although, I've only just recently began working on this again.

So here's where I'm at.
Just need to find a late style tail light assy. and some decent mufflers and I'll be ready for the road.
Other things I'd like to do is find a chain guard and a mud guard for the rear fender.
Eventually I plan on installing a kill switch on the right mirror perch as well as a secondary master switch (hidden) mainly because the key can be installed or removed in any switch position. I also plan on installing some winkers in the future if people around here show their incompetency often enough.
I also might figure something else out with the front fender. It's just something I had and thought I'd try it out but it just looks kind of small for the bike. Although I think it was originally for a CB93 which also had 18 inch tires. Just looks a bit off.
I know it's not real close to an original looking piece but it's the way I like it. I took it for a little spin earlier and it feels nice. Has a way better feel than my Dream.

J; I have a bunch of tail lite brackets for that style, not for a CB77. those lites were used on a lot of Hondas in the day. the various models just bolt up different. for example you can buy the CT-90 version all day long (complete with lens) for about $30. you would just have to drill an extra hole in the tail lite bracket to mount to the CB77 fender. I can send you one of those for shipping cost with a promise of a beer next time I'm in Montana.

Wow. That would be awesome!
So the hole you mentioned to be drilled is for the top hole right?
Yeah that would be great if you could do that and I'd be glad to buy you a brew. I'll PM you my address.
