did you put the slide in the correct carb, arent the carbs mirror image and if you put the left slide in the right carb it would be in backwards? I knew a guy that did this on an RD350 and it ran very bad. but not sure about it reving up.

Ok Here are some pictures of the carbs.

This one is the Left Carb Rear...
I know its not completely down, but this is how its always been prior to dis-assembly... And perhaps not that far up to cause 6000-7000 RPMs.

And the right.

Here is the throttle open all the way...

Side of the left carb...Throttle slide screw is all the way out. Air screw 1 1/8 in

Taking the bottom off and looking at the main jet holder...Its not screwed in to the end of its threads, perhaps there is an issue with to much distance between the main jet and the needle jet....But I do remember noticing this same situation prior to disassembly.

Any guesses?

Definately not bottomed, and enough to rev to 6K RPM!. Looks like a lot of wear on that slide as well. The main jet nozzle looks correct.

ok...good to know.

I also noticed that the weight of the two slides was very different...one was much much heavier then the other!....

Would a new throttle cable and slides fix this up? Perhaps just reworking the cable? I assume that its the length of the cable that is not letting the slides drop fully into the carb. When they are disconnected they will drop in just fine.

Thx again.

It's at the top of the carbs.
Loosen the 10 mm nut.
Turn the adjuster at the cable to the bottom on both carbs. . .......lm

ok.... will drop as much as it will let me....
If I adjust the nuts at the top of the carb and the resulting level of the slides are different, is this something that I can fix with the slide screw? Adjust one side to compensate for the other?

Is there anything at the throttle grip I can do as well? The small adjusting nut there?

best
