Clutch/kickstarter question
Clutch/kickstarter question
I came home Tuesday with my new toy, a CL72 with 305 top. My clutch lever is stiff and what seems limited movement. The kickstarter was engaging, now it won't. I think the problem was after pulling clutch lever in. If my clutch isn't working freely, could this be my problem. Should I make sure of my clutch before pulling engine and looking at the pawl

Hi,
For a good understanding, the kick starter mechanism drives a transmission gear.
The transmission drives the crank, via the clutch, so the clutch is a link in the power chain.
That's why the crank won't turn around when the clutch isn't engaged.
However, some small bikes like the C50 have an extra mechanism that makes it possible to kick-start the bike when the clutch isn't engaged.
