Restoration Update

Post by Bogey0345 » Sat Apr 23, 2011 10:43 am

Finally found the old title and realized the bike is a 67 not 65. It's totally apart now with exception of the sub-assemblies. I just got the throttle slide out of the carbs. Boiling like I saw on another post worked like a charm. I like to think ahead and want to reassemble the parts that will back on the frame in a logical order. Any suggestions from you pros?

Also been reading about painting vs powder coating. Any suggestion and actual photos of members results? Also what's the better and most economical method of removing paint and rust, chemical or blasting?

Took pictures of the dis-assembly but flickr will not come up on my computer.

Looks like you are starting with a pretty nice bike. That certainly makes it all easier.

Well it's been just over 10 month since I started this restoration. Had to postpone the project for a while while working on other ones. However I just got most of the frame and body parts back from the refinisher, being stripped and powder coated. I'll be working on the restoration again.
