I worked at the Honda dealer back in the day when 160s were new and in spite of one may read, off the internet, D10HS plugs do not work in a 160 Honda. The coldest plugs we ever used were D8s, some customers actually got better service with D7s. The only time D10 plugs would be needed would be going WFO, for hours at a time, down a freeway someplace. If you have a lean-running condition, colder plugs aren't going to get you any kind of real relief, you need to fix the cause of the lean running. The D10 plugs are really common on ebay because there were lots of them, unsold on dealers shelves. Yes, they fit, and they may even be listed in the Honda manuals but it's a waste of time and money to use them.
Colder plugs in CB77 - D10?
Well, I am now totally lost.
I was operating on two fundamental assumptions. 1. More air is lean and more gas is rich. 2. LM is always right. So, maybe you are telling me the filter doesn't control air volume. Or maybe you are saying I should stop wasting time - mine and yours - and go back to the stock filter.
More info than I would prefer to offer after all the time this has been going on!
Ya don't need ta worry about "to much Air" so your problem is probably is not Lean but a combination of adjustments. Have ya done All the tune info in the FAQ section? The engine requires a couple of things to run. Gas in the proper amount. Ignition at the Proper TIME. Compression at the required amount. What does this actually mean? Carb with correct parts and adjusted for Idle Air and synced to each other. (make sure they both have the correct parts) Timing set correctly. (not just a spark at the plug) Valves set correctly. (check with a feller gauge. It's a thin metal sort of shim) Then ya may really know if it's Lean or Rich. Once again the old adage was "Ya carb problems are in direct proportion to the miss adjustment of the points". I will ad that if the points are set correctly tis up ta ya ta sink the carbs. .................lm
Ya been at this engine for several weeks and I know that I recommended earlier that ya do a complete Tune Up Check.
So now after many discussions ya will check the important things which make that engine run as it can. Sort of bothers me that ya have a engine tune problem and ya go with THE PO did anything and believe it then exorcise the list after ya were offered a check (FAQ) (I did it earlier) and will finally check all the adjustments. May I suggest ya adjust ALL THE things which are required to have that engine run. ................lm
