I am in the process of sealing the gas tank on my dream. I am using the Por-15 kit. I ran into a little trouble trying the seal off the petcock holes and I came up with a solution here. Thought I'd post it, maybe it can help someone else.
I used a piece of steel I had laying around and cut it down to size to fit over the holes. Then drilled 3 holes into it in line with the screw holes for the petcock. I then cutout I piece of rubber (I used my old tubes as they were still laying around). Cut 3 holes into the rubber that lined up with the screws. Tightened down and it worked real well.

Well my seal for the petcock area worked pretty good. However not wanting to coat the gas cap I really didn't have any good options for the gas cap. I used it for the cleaners but didn't use the gasket. I tried using a similar method I used for the petcock but I had a lot of leaks from the top. The sealing off of the gas cap I could not seem to get no matter what I had used. So I ended up with a mess at all 3 stages of the sealing.
The 2 stage cleaners leaked through and that wasn't to bad until I realized that once the tank was dry it left what looked like bad water runs in the paint. Then When I put the sealer in I had wrapped the tank in newspaper and used duct tape over the gas cap hole. The sealer leaked through. I had what looked like silver paint drips all over my tank.
The POR-15 Sealer does not wipe off with a wet rag. I was able ]to get the bulk off with a dry rag but still left silver all over my red gas tank. I tried a few things to get this off the paint while the sealer was still wet. I eventually used PB Blaster on a rag and it came right off. It also helped to clear up the water run marks.
Besides my dilemmas that I had with leaks throughout the process, the tank came out real good. If I can I'll try to take a picture of the inside. The sealer definitely leaves a nice hard coating over the inside of the tank.
