How do I know what year/model mine are?

Post by bake » Sat May 19, 2012 11:44 pm

Today I picked up 2 305 Dreams, the engine serial # on the black one is C77E 400835 the red is C77E 1004083. I haven't found anything on the frames (where do I look?)

Between the 2 I should have just about enough to build 1

Hi and Welcome to the Forum. The frame number is on the lefthand side between the back of the engine and just below the swing-arm pivot.

The production numbers are on this chart, but be careful with the number of digits in the number. Honda changed their numbering system after 1964, I think and increased the number of digits.

Both bikes have indicators so are clearly Canadian models......

Your numbers suggest that the black bike may be 1964 and the red one post 64. Up to 64 the first number was the year of manufacture. The frame numbers are rarely the same as the engine numbers but usually follow them within 100 or so.. When you find the frame numbers they may start C78-

If you fancy selling the rear blinker mounts of one of the bikes - I am interested. Send me a PM. I also have a parts manual in PDF if you want it.

Excellent, thanks for the info, pm heading your way.

Hers some shots of some of the other stuff I've done

last build was a 71 Hb1 in boxes, I mixed in a GSXR front and rear suspension, blah blah blah... tons of work

Image

My 1974 Laverda SF1 that I have owned since new but did a total resto on (using some SFC body work)

Image

and finally a 71 CL 450 that is currently on the bench and about 1/2 ways done, going back to stock or as close as financially possible

The Dreams are going to have to wait there turn but I didn't want to turn them down and I can slowly collect necessary parts for this project.

Looks like you are certainly up to the task. Luckily most parts aren't too difficult to find.

Love that Kawasaki and the Laverda. The Dream will be a bit tame after those.
