26mm carb float bowl question

Post by Hotshoe » Sat Jun 16, 2012 10:10 am

Cleaning a set of carbs this morning and ran across something I've never seen before and doesn't make sense to me.... one of the overflow stems is closed at the top (see pic).
It looks like it was made that way, is there any reason for this that any of you are aware of?
Before I drill it out, have I found the ultra rare CYB float bowl worth a bazillion bucks ;-)?

More than likely someone closed it over a leaky seat or sinking float and didnt know any better.

Yet another way to fix an overflowing float bowl I guess.
Might list it on ebay as a "rare" part and see what it brings.

Took closer look at the "plugged" float bowl overflow tube this morning and it has a small hole on the side of the tube near the top that I had overlooked.
I cleared a grunge blockage that was plugging it up and now it functions properly.
Although I've never seen anything like this, it looks like something that was done at the factory.
Not a big thing but another bit of info for the data base.

Seems logical to me if you think that this was used on a CL or other off-road motorcycle, if you fall over, or the motor is bouncing a lot, you probably have less stinkin' fuel leaks.

I have seen that type of overflow, though it may not have been on a 305.
