I think second gear on the countershaft is backwards (facing the wrong way).

Yes, I know! I went back over it while I was talking to Ed today (he pointed it out, I hadn't been online yet today), and sure enough! I had put the main and counter shafts in the cases exactly as they came from the person I bought them from. I should have looked closer! Thank heavens I'm on this site, I would have shocked many with some ripe expletives if I had assembled that engine and then discovered the error!! You fellas saved me a lot of grief.

Question for you fellas (it may turn into more than one question, so beware!)...

My Hawk has a 33T rear sprocket fitted. It's worn, and I should replace it. The question: what was the "standard" tooth count on the CB77 rear sprocket?

Exhaust - will the the Dunstall (Emgo) 27 inch replica mufflers be acceptable, and do they bolt up properly?

Tires? I know about the Avon 80/80 and 80/90 18's - how about the Heidenau 2.75x18 and 3.00x18 (on eBay)?

The main drive chain - it's a 530, I know that, but what is the length - is it a 102?

Another one - does anyone have a method (other than just replacing them) for getting dents out of the header pipes??

I've heard of people blocking one end, putting water in the header and freezing it to push out dents. However, I'd be afraid it would split or deform the pipe, myself.

Wow, that's an idea. However, the dents in my pipes are pretty serious. I can't even push the flanges over them. I think new headers might be the best answer. I'm sure someone has tried those pipes from the Thailand dealers - I hope to hear what the experience was like, and if the pipes were quality or not. I may have to go that route.
