So during tear down I found out the toe shift was welded to the shaft for unknown reasons. I am thinking about cutting shift with a die grinder and peeling off with a cold chisel to save the shaft. any ideas? Untitled by mriesap, on Flickr
I don't think you will be able to save it. It was probably welded because the splines were stripped. Maybe only the splines were stripped in the shift lever but at this point I think it would be quite hard to salvage the shaft.
I can always cross bore the shaft and put a castellated and drilled bolt with lock wire, need to get it off so I can continue disassembling. How do I get the chain off the cam-shaft to pop the heads? Untitled by mriesap, on Flickr
Engine is not rotating and I am not sure if it is the pistons or what. I tried rotating the armature and it will not rotate. I think one of the pistons is stuck. But transmission wont rotate when engaged either. Untitled by mriesap, on Flickr
Since it looks like this might be a complete tear-down I would take a small grinder or dremel and carefully grind a couple of pins off the chain. Or use a chain breaker.
okay. I was hoping there was a way to loosen something and pop it off with out damaging, but looks like I will be sourcing either a master link or chain.
