Fantastic find and looks like a pretty easy restoration. I have just finished work on a 1962 C72 tank and notice that you have the original chrome tank strip on there too. That will look really nice.

The front winkers are very unusual but the lenses are still available but quite expensive.

What is the frame number? Unusual that it would be a US spec bike with winkers but nice. I have a lot of Dream stuff so may be able to find some parts for you.

Oh wow G that tank looks GREAT! Those winkers.... are they original? Ive never seen them before? can you guide me to where I can find the lenses? Ive looked but came up empty handed. I need the hard to come by parts so far. Carb covers, chain guard, and the left battery cover. I found a battery cover on ebay, but it states its the left side but to me, it looks like it is really the right side. I emailed the seller and he INSISTS its the left side, so I just decided to not bid on it. All these parts are ones I KNOW I need before the rebuild begins... im sure it will grow before I am done. lol. Since I haven't started stripping it down I haven't been able to find frame numbers yet. But I will when find it!

Hi,

Thank you so much for the pictures !

I really must say, I've never seen those winkers, and I have seen a lot.
Therefore, I can't answer the question if these are original or not.

If you are dissembling the bike you could look to the wire colors of the winkers.
Honda used orange and light blue, after market wires are mostly black or green.

I'm very interested in pictures of your wires and harness, also of the winker relay.

and indeed, like G says, in the frame number and harness tag.

Kellie

Frame number is below the left hand swing arm pivot near rear brake switch.

I think that the winker lenses are the same as item 4 on this page.

Honda used a lot of different winkers and attachments to cope with different market requirements. Yours will be a nice unusual bike when it's done.

I have a C72 with pressed handlebars which uses a similar lens but with different fitting. I have seen the lenses come up on eBay and think that they have a Honda Cub part number. 33405-001-610

The lens is also the same (I think) as the Japanese model CL72 and CB72 when fitted with winkers.

Kellie

Just been looking at your pics again and your front light has what we Brits call a 'pilot light' which is a small secondary light which is a legal requirement for running around in the gloom before headlamps are needed.

Not sure if this was the same in Canada but it looks to me like your bike is an import of some sort. Your ignition switch should have an extra position to accommodate the extra light.

Take a look at the pictures of the bike in this eBay listing.

Same winkers as yours!

Thanks for the information. Indeed my ignition has 6 positions. We are STILL searching for the frame #. It MUST be covered up by something because we can not find it for the life of us. We did notice the secondary light in the headlamp also, but we didn't know why it was like that. Good information. Id love to keep these winkers so I am goig to try those lenses and see if they fit. Also, I have an odd decal on my tank just below the filler cap that I am extremely curious about. Has ANYONE seen a decal like this? Do you know if it is orginal to the bike? And one more question. My 1963 305 has metal rear shock covers, however others that I have purchased online have plastic coverings. Is there a specific year when they switched from metal to plastic? Thanks again for all your help everyone!

Hi again Kellie

I think that the shock covers changed very early, maybe around '61. My 1960 C77 - Axxxxx has metal covers but my 1962 C72 does not. All of Dream shocks I have picked up for restoration have plastic covers.

The exception, I am told, is the white painted Dream which always had metal ones. I do not know this for a fact but I do have a set of white metal covers on some rusty shocks which I expected to be plastic.

I think it is due to the pigment. Maybe they could not make good white plastic ones.......

That transfer is interesting. Hopefully someone will translate. Jensen is pretty good at that but we have Japanese friends coming to see us in a week or two so I'll ask them to take a look.
