anyone seen an A plate like this ?

I will get some pics up when I can, but I pulled my clutch apart on the project '66 CB 77 to find out why it pulled so hard, and noticed that the right side cover was flexing when the lever was pulled. The A plate is actually a casting about 6.5 mm ( actually .260 in) thick and has the following cast into the recesses on the back side: BTE at the top, Huntington park at the bottom, and close to that in another recess, CALIF. The friction plates are 3.7 mm. thick, and the B plates look fairly decent. Anyone ever seen anthing like this ?

Sounds like you have a Barnett clutch. ..........lm

I think I have a pic resized now; I think I'll go back to the standard A plate. That should solve a lot of problems with this clutch. I talked to a local chopper builder about welding the crack in the side cover, and he's going to do it. (He's REALLY a craftsman: I have a lot of confidence in him. He's not covered in tattoos.)

I think that plate is cast magnesium and by now as you look at the contact area may be warped. .......lm

Thanks LM. I'll check the flatness- I hadnt thought of that. The thing that's really bothering me is the fact that the actuating rod puts so much pressure on the right side cover that its starting to crack. I dont have any Honda springs to compare with but I'm sure the ones I have are much stronger than standard. You can see the right side cover flex when you actuate the clutch. (not good I'm sure.) I think if I source some standard springs it will make a big difference (?)
