Hello all,
I wanted to introduce myself. I've been around bikes for a few years now and daily ride a 1971 R60/5. I've always liked the look of the Dream and when I found these 2 I knew I could probably make one good bike, and maybe get both of them back on the road.
I've been doing a little research on this forum and I am no doubt going to have questions, but my goal is to get the red bike back on the road soon and use it to learn as I put the green bike back together, if I can find the missing parts.
The red bike is complete and running, though I cannot get the clutch to work and I believe that it is out of adjustment and the plates are stuck together after 39 years of sitting. I will find out soon! As far as I can tell it appears mostly original, I'd like some input on that. It is registered as a 1969 but I have not researched the frame and engine numbers yet to know what year it might really be. It was taken off the road in 1972-73 and has 4400 miles.
The green bike is more of a mystery. It is mostly complete, but a basket case and was someone's stalled restoration. It is missing some key parts though, exhaust system and carb seem to be the worst of it, but I also have no headlight or speedo.
I will be using this thread to follow the green bike as I try to get it back together and running. I plan to ride and maintain the red bike so I do not think I will be "restoring" that one, just keeping it going.
Thanks,
Christopher

I am in G'boro. I doubt I will be riding either of these this year. I red bike has an issue in 2nd gear, I'm starting to think it may be timing and looking into that now. The green bike's engine is out.mmiiiiiz wrote:Looks like you're going to have a great time with those two bikes, congratulations on your purchase. BTW, where abouts in NC are you? Should still have some riding time left...
Have fun
However, I still have my /5. I try to keep her active year round, so we will see.
