sprocket ratios

Post by JSharpPhoto » Mon Jan 28, 2013 2:51 pm

i was going to run a 15/32 sprocket combo, but I have the opportunity to convert to a 520 chain. In doing so, they can't cut me a 15T sprocket in the 520 size, just 16 or 17.

So i have two options, run 16/32, or (their recommendation is) 16/35 which is apparently closer to the performance of a 15/32.

Anyone want to weigh in on my options? This will be done in addition to crossing the gears.

Sprocket specialists may be able to make you a 15 tooth 520. google it for thier website.

i'll look into that, but for my reference, which would you rather have? 16/32 or 16/35?

on paper the differences are 2.00 (16/32) to 2.19 (16/35) vs my original target of 2.13 (15/32)

so unless there is some wizardry, the 16/35 is closer.

depends on where the majority of your riding will be. Around town and riding twisties, 16-35 . Freeway / high speed, 16-32.
