Thanks G-Man. When we first built the bike, we had no prior Honda Dream experience. Although my husband has amazed me by his ever increasing skills, we didn't overhaul the engine. We just cleaned it up, checked in the inards out to make sure everything was the way it should be, and replaced gaskets. I don't think my hubby ever expected me to fall in love with the bike the way I did and I ride it all the time! So when I was out enjoying a day of sunshine, (farther out than I probably should have been on a road that was a tad faster than I should have been going) I heard something in the engine "give". I lost power right away, and pulled to the side. I checked for oil leaks, and cautiously restarted the bike and limped it home. There was a rattle within the head, that was undeniable. At first we thought it was a valve, but after some adjusting and checking the easy stuff we realized it was going to be much more involved. So after talking to Davo, and he generously offered to help us out with it, we tore it out of the bike and opened her up. We found that one of the pistons had seized up and then unseized, but the damage was done. We really couldn't figure out WHY it seized though. Plenty of fresh clean oil, and it didn't appear to have run lean, but none the less it was in need of some head work. So, Davo had the head machined for us, and put in new pistons and rings. It took longer than I had wanted to get the motor back in the bike, due to work schedules. But yesterday my hubby was tired of my pouting and put it back together. It is purring like a "Dream", and I have to do the usual break in period, but the good news is...... It's running again!!!! Im a happy girl. :)
