going to pick up this bike today, it would run until you start to drive it. owner thinks rectifier? the bike has been sitting easily over 20 years or more, im exited i dont have all the info like the model but i was hoping to get alot of help here on this site from you guys that know them inside and out. thanks.

Probably not the rectifier. May only be running on one cylinder?

ok its a 67 cb 77 superhawk type 1 engine i tried to upload pictures but it didnt work. its fae from starting now thats what was wrong last time it ran would rev seem to run good on the center stand but soon as in gear and try to drive would spit sputter probably die.. soon as i can get battery tubes n tires ill get to try it again. thank you guys for replying those are two things i will definately check.

Clean the carbs, make sure the ignition timing is correct (probably the cause!) , clean the points, put in some new plugs, and check for false air leaks.
Also don't forget to check the air filters.

If you really have a bad day, then maybe compression is to low caused by worn piston rings.

But start simple, and while your ate it, check the valve gaps.

It's probably a small thing, If I may make a lucky shot : Ignition timing !

got it running with not to much work. just new battery and the basics it fired up, complete flat back tire so after new tubes and tires will finally test drive it see if still problem i let the clutch out and went a good 20 ft we wwill see thx guys.
