Post by mason123h » Tue Jun 25, 2013 10:34 am

Could some please tell me how to remove a CA78 fuel tank petcock? I am going to de-rust my tank and need to remove the petcock.

Thanks!

remove the bowl on the bottom of the petcock. then remove the o ring and screen. THen you will see three screws. Remove the screws and the petcock comes off.

........ Unless the screws are rusted in in which case they will not come out. I finally drilled the heads off the screws and removed the petcock. Then used Visegrips to remove the rest of the screw. I also re-tapped the holes to take ISO screws.

Yup, we ended up drilling out the rusty screws and using vise grips to do the rest.

Thanks for the help!
