Gear Shift Shaft Mystery
Gear Shift Shaft MysteryI bought what was claimed to be a replacement gear shift shaft for my '67 CL77 a few months ago and finally got around to replacing the broken one yesterday - more correctly, tried to replace it! What I found is that the new shaft is correct in all regards except one - it's too long by .194 inch. The dimension between the shoulders on the shaft measure 4.074 inches vs. the 3.880 inch dimension for the old part. Does anyone know what bike the longer shaft is used in? The part is in as-new condition and would like to put it up for sale, but need to have an idea of where it's used. Anyone out there know?
