Well I've had the bike for nearly a year and a half and have made some progress but still have a long way to go. The first thing I did was obtain a North Carolina Title. I did not want to spend money restoring a bike I could never ride.
I'm sure Eljeef is correct and the bike is newer than a '64, but I titled it as a '64 because that's what the Ebay seller listed it as. When I pulled the wire harness the tag on it said Sumito 1965.
I have had the bike running but have only ridden it up the driveway into the garage. The tires were shot and would only hold air for a matter of minutes. Got the new tires from my wife for Christmas and just got them mounted.
I have replaced the handlebars and I'm having trouble getting the throttle tube/hinge to work. When I start the bike it revs to full throttle. Nothing I can't correct just haven't had the time to dig into it.
I also have a short in the taillight circut. If I disconnect the taillight wire in the distribution box the short goes away, if the wire is connected the fuse blows when I turn the key to the second position. Again time is the only thing holding me back on this.
Here are some pics of what the bike looks like today.
