Hey Jon,

You have a very nice/rare late '61 survivor that came with DLS front brake panel. Only about the first 1500 CB72's came with SLS. Looks like you may also have the correct stainless mufflers?

Hi Tim - yes, they must be stainless - absolutely no rust. Unfortunately, there are a fair number of dents. Not sure I want to put them back on if everything else is cleaned up. Do you think anyone would want them??

If they are stainless could the seam be split then the dents could be beaten out and the 2 halves welded back together again and re-polished, I have heard of this being done to chrome steel ones, which would also require re chroming after also.

I have a friend who does that but the stainless silencers are very thin and once the seam is split the two halves are very flexible. I have a stainless set that I want to try it with but I know it will be a long job.

Also - although they are stainless they are not completely immune to corrosion so you may find pitting on the inside. Possible but not a job for the faint-hearted.

Hard to believe but this is a stainless one one that he split open, beat the dents out of and had re-polished. Don't you just hate people who can do that!!
