Im working on a 68 superhawk, the manual I have calls for a the rear axle nut to be torqued to 142.32 ft lbs, that seams excessive, my cb 450 is 56 to 85 ft lbs. Can some one verifiy the torque spec for a 68 superhawk????
Thanks.
cb77 rear axle torque setting
Yes as tight as you can with the origional double ended wheel, nut spanner and then line up the split pin hole as best you can. Remember you might have to undo the nut on the side of the road (puncture) so don't overtighten. I have used the above procedure for nearly 50 years on my CB77 and never had a problem although the spanner has long gone.
Leon. 140.000 miles on my bike.
