Good day. I am working on a siezed Dream speedometer. I got everything disassembled and derusted. I soaked the speedo case a little too long and actually removed some of the plating. Is that body/case zinc plated? Appreciate someone giving me the answer so I can attempt to replate it while it is apart. I thought about painting it but I will try the plating method if I can. Thanks, Jeff.

It is indeed zinc plated with, I assume, clear passivation. I 've had a couple done recently and they come up looking really nice.

Thanks G. Now I have to find some zinc. Do I have to remove all of the original plating before I apply new zinc?

You have to remove all of the rust / dirt. There may not be much zinc left after you've done that.
