CA78 head gasket oil leak

My '66 leaks around the front of the cylinder. The front outside two studs have been replaced and I can't get proper torque. The studs are bottomed out in the engine case. It seems like they are slightly too long and also bottom out in the acorn nut before proper torque is attained. So, what should I do: (1) add another washer, (2) replace the acorn with a hex nut, (3) cut the stud to a shorter length or (4) something else?

Did you install the shafts which are ground thinner than the other 6? ..................lm

Near as I know all are the same length no matter the engine.
I had one which would twist so I replaced and the new one didn't twist
????????????????. .......lm

I'm thinking about just switching to hex nuts, on the outsides. I already have them on the inner studs. Where should the copper washer be used, outter correct? Anyone know of a source for these copper washers or the correct part number?

You should find you have zinc plated copper washers.
Use the rotor and see. ...................lm

I put nylon insert stainless hex nuts (almost looks like an acorn) on top of copper washers and got 22 lb-ft right off the bat. Life's good.
