IGNITION COIL
Hey y'all!
I just got my bike together with a battery and fresh fuel system, and the darn thing wouldn't start. The electric start motor makes a noise but nothin. SO, I go kickstarter. I spent a good couple hours kicking and nothing.
SO I check for spark, leaving the spark plug exposed a little to catch a glimpse of the arc. NOTHING. So I feel the ignition coil and it's warm. The battery is charged and lights come on, everything seems fine.
My guess is a bad ignition coil. OR I'm also wondering if it needs to sit overnight while connected to the battery to give me some spark finally. I'll try again soon, but I figured I'd reach out to you guys to see what you thought.
I've checked out Ignition Coils online, and found a couple. Is there a modern alternative or one from a different model that would work?
Thanks!!

I have my eye on this coil: Seems to me like any 12v coil should work, no?

No, the Dream calls for a coil with 4-5 ohms primary resistance.nevernotbusy wrote: Seems to me like any 12v coil should work, no?

Did you check the timing and points-clean and gap? You could have a bad connection between the plug wires and the cap. I cut the wires off a little and rescrewed the caps on when I was having spark issues, made a world of difference.
Have you checked the battery voltage? Even if its new it could be low, affecting your spark.
Did you make sure you were getting a good ground when you were testing for spark?
