Brand new superhawk owner.
Bad news. Kick starter is pretty shot. Shaft is pretty bad as well. It was freely spinning on the shaft when i got it and now i see why. Basically no spline left on either. On the plus side the starter does seem to have the rare index punch LM referenced in some other thread. Also a pic of the speedo. Having a heck of a time getting the carbs off. Having a heck of a time getting a wrench on the 2 inner bolts. Will swing by harbor freight over lunch tomorrow.

CArbs off
Got the carbs off after a trip to harbor freight to buy more wrenches (my cobbled set did not have a 10mm). Left carb looks great. right carb has some damage. Not sure what to do here. See attached pic. The o-ring seems to still make a tight seal.

Is that damage into the grove where the O ring lives? If it is, you could fill it will JB Weld. You'd have to do some sanding afterwards to level it out so that it matches the rest of the bore. Put an old O ring (or something like it) in the groove to keep the JB Weld out of it when you apply it.
As an alternative, there are carburetors to be had on eBay.
