I have a CA78 which has not been ridden or even started for about 10 years. Each month it would be kicked over a few times but that's it. Tires would no longer hold air so new tubes have been installed. Carb has been cleaned and re-installed. Petcock is currently disassembled and awaiting parts. A new battery sits on the shelf. What other issues ought to be addressed before attempting to start this machine?

Dump the oil and clean the centrifugal filter. Take a close look at your old oil. Check for gasoline contamination and metal fillings.

Okay. Sounds easy enough.

Tires over 10 years old (surely they weren't new then) should be replaced along with the tubes.
Do you know why it was parked? Might give you an idea of what else should be checked.

I don't intend to ride this bike. I'm prepping to sell and these are the original narrow whitewalls which I'd like to keep mounted on the bike.
