What year is my Honda 305 Dream?
What year is my Honda 305 Dream?
Hi. I have a Dream 305 & not sure what year it is. In checking different sites they show the CA77, but only a couple show the CA78 prefix. The Frame no. is: CA78-1003419, the engine no. is: CA77-1003409. Is there something special or different about the models with the CA78 prefix? I didn't want to try registering the moto using the wrong year, you all know what a pain in the ass the DMVs can be. I only have a basic sales receipt, there is no Title. There was no Title issued back in the '60s. Have any of you had trouble getting registered a moto like mine that hasn't been registered in many years? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. ...... Pete C. PS: what are BBCodes?

I just spent a bunch of time writing a reply & then when I submitted it I was asked to Log In even though I was already logged in, it was all lost! WYF, what happened.
I will use the 1965 as the Dreams model year as HT suggested. Basically I said there are inconsistencies in when the Frame No.s changed from 6 to 7 digits. It's too bad there wasn't a reasonable accurate Frame No. to bike year for the whole run of the Dreams, oh well those early years were a bit inconsistent.
Thanks for the reply HT, Pete.

Hi you all. Found this Forum Site while trying to determine what year my Dream 305 was. This guy found a beautiful condition 1965 white Honda Dream 305. Here are links to two threads on the SOHC/4 Owners Club Forums site:
1st "In a Dream" started 3/15/13: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=119052.0
2nd "Building the Dream" started 3/17/13: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=119111.0
What a find, he even got the first & only, to that point, Title done in Idaho when it was first registered. In the 2nd thread in the initial post there is a pic of the Title. Note that they used the engine ID number as the motos ID no. calling the Dream a CA77 Model, they should have used the CA78 Frame number as its ID number.
That Dream being Titled as a 1965 was an indication to me that I was safe calling mine a year 1965 since the Frame & Engine ID numbers were so close to mine. I just wished my Dream looked as good. ...... Pete
