Found the reference to aircraft stripper and picked up a quart at the local auto parts store this morning. Just applied a coat of Klean-Strip. This stuff is powerful!
Ordered an LED tail light this morning also. A bit premature, I suppose.

finally finished all the stripping this morning. I'm glad; I'm tired of it. I used more than a quart of stripper. Parts off to the painter on monday and I can concentrate on other things.

Dropped all stripped parts off at the paint shop today. I was happy to see that the rear fender had been beautifully repaired and that the frame and swing arm are in final primer, ready for paint. Progress at last.

On a whim, I decided to see if my starter motor would spin, so I connected it to my battery and, much to my surprise, it spun freely. I guess I'm surprised because it's covered in grease, grime and rust and looks so bad that I really didn't expect it to work.
I've started to clean it up and will have to do some research on how it should be finished. Maybe it comes apart.
