CB77 jumps into gear when pushingCB77 jumps into gear when pushingHi Everyone,
Well I took delivery of my 65 CB77 today and thought it would be more than a minute to start the list of things needing attention - wrong! Pushing the bike into my garage, it seems to jump into gear from neutral. Just backing it up releases it for a few feet. Before it catches, there is a clicking noise in the gear box and there doesn't appear to be any clutch to speak of. Of course the seller didn't share any of this part with me! Any ideas? New Arrival Tranny IssueThanks for the reply. Here is as much background as I have: The bike hasn't been run in 10 years so all of the cables are in bad shape and need to be replaced. Since I can't start the bike yet, I was hoping someone could suggest why the bike rolls freely for a few feet and then jumps into gear. Could it be that the gears are so worn, it won't stay in neutral? Again, once in gear, the clutch doesn't help as I believe the cable is so far out or the clutch is just bad. It also does this sitting on the stand and the clicking sounds like it's coming from the drive chain side before it jumps into gear. Backing the wheel releases it back into neutral, as does using the shifter. Any help or first steps is much appreciated. Will Will
It sounds to me like you aren't actually in neutral. Maybe just between two other gears. Try and find first gear, then ease up into neutral from there. Put the bike on the stand and count through all the gears. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

Do you have the kick starter lever installed correctly?
Does it move as you roll the bike?. ..............lm
