The needle-roller bearings turned up and apart from an extra oil-hole (which will get covered up anyway) they look good. They certainly feel better on the inner sleeve than the originals so these will become a standard fit for my 'refurb program'.

Just waiting for those M7 bolts now...

Do you have a supplier for the neoprene wheel?. ....................lm

No - sorry, I am just re-truing old ones. I'm sure someone could be persuaded to make them if there was demand. The surface underneath the 'crust' is still quite pliable.

I tipped out my box of old tensioners and was a little surprised with how many there were.

And when they were in daylight - I could see that I had four early ones. The elusive one from the '61 engine is on the left.

That's the one most in need of attention.

As you are really getting into this part have you given any thought to using the wheel from
the primary chain tensioner?
I haven't taken one apart but you are into this and maybe you will find the wheel will interchange with a small amount of modes. ...........lm

Thank for your suggestion. As a complete coincidence, when I emptied this box of parts there were a few primary tensioner assemblies in there. You're right, it looks like the same basic wheel with just a thicker rib in the middle. I'll pull one apart and take a look.

When the M7 bolts turn up I'll get a complete tensioner built up and check it in a barrel for clearance. If that works out I'm just going to work through my whole 'collection'.

LOL, you do have one or two extras there, G. A couple of questions, if I may:

What's the difference between the old and new style? It appears that the old ones have the adjusting bolt on the left. Is that the only difference?

In an earlier post, you said that the tensioner wheel you were working on looked ropey. I assume that you mean that the wheel was scalloped. I see that some others in your stash have the same problem. What causes that? Is it from too much tension on the chain? Adjusting error?
