I sent my fenders to Denver Bumper (who have since closed their doors) for re-chroming a couple of years back, and I am finally far enough along to mount them. They removed the front struts to get the job done, so I am just finding out that their process radically flattened out the fender's radius. Is anyone out there familiar with this sort of problem? Will stripping de-stress the piece? Thank you!

Interesting problem. It may have been the chroming or the polishing that did that. I don't think that stripping would help. You might be able coax the fender back into the correct shape by pulling it around a former with a ratchet strap or similar.
